Hemant Mahabir
Hemant Mahabir is a Partner of Sjiem Fat & Mahabir.
He started his career at Sjiem Fat & Mahabir Trademark Consultants N.V. in 1999.
In November 2016, following the transition of Sjiem Fat & Mahabir Trademark Consultants N.V., he became a Partner of Sjiem Fat & Mahabir Intellectual Property N.V. (Sjiem Fat & Mahabir), a firm he co-founded.
He heads the Trademark Department of the firm and is responsible for trademark matters before the Bureau for Intellectual Property in Suriname.
He has extensive experience in trademark matters, including advising on, registration, and renewal of trademarks, and assists clients in developing strategies for the protection of their trademark rights.
His clients include both local and international companies across a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, home and healthcare, food and beverage, and retail.
He is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and regularly attends its annual meetings. He is also a member of the Intellectual Property Caribbean Association (IPCA).
